Wash away as best you can all your biases and start from scratch.
Don’t think of connecting to God as a recipe of steps or instructions to follow.
You already have all you need. You were born equipped. We all are.
Don’t be fooled by:
- Elaborate or ‘spiritual’ rituals
- Fancy words and definitions
- Long winded diatribes
- Emphatic emotional performances
- Traditions and so called established religions and churches
You LITERALLY don’t need any of that.
This will be hard for many of you to wrap your heads around, because it’s been written into our cultures otherwise. The gate keepers of these institutions and practices will use all the techniques I’m telling you to avoid to convince you otherwise.
You’ll be tempted for sure to follow them. We all get tempted by it, because they’re pleasant and emotionally engaging, but that is not the same thing and has nothing to do with genuine connection to God.
Only genuine connection to God is genuine connection to God, regardless of what you do or how you practice or foster that connection.
This leaves many people feeling lost because:
- Without an institution to ‘teach’ them they feel like a spinning wheel. How to begin?
- They don’t believe that they can be independent of all institutions and be on their own.
- They’re afraid to be alone.
- Religious tribes offer comfort, stability and reassurance.
Jesus didn’t need a tribe. He said to get rid of all phony displays of worship. Jesus only needed absolute unquestioned faith AND he taught explicitly that that was all you needed.
The Buddha didn’t need anything except his mind.
I’m hesitant to say this, but you can practice religion if you want to. You just have to be careful not to confuse religious practice (even genuine sincere practice) from genuine connection to God.
My urgency is for everyone to forgo it until they’re ready enough to not be potentially misled or biased by it.
As always…
Get connected! Stay connected!
Peace!!
