Probably the most confusing and misleading part of the Judeo-Christian faiths is the concept “Word of God”.

What the heck does that mean?

By the “word of God” the world came into being?

He spoke it into existence?

The discovery of God and hence the development of a system keeping the records of the newly developed understandings to then disseminate to the people was during a time of great knowledge for a minority, but mostly widespread ignorance for almost all of the population.

You think the dark ages were ignorant? How about three or four thousands years earlier.

Things needed to be explained in simple easy to understand terms and concepts.

The personification of God, a man-like being that spoke the same language as the listener, was necessary to envision Him for minds that had a hard time with conceptualization of even simple things.

He spoke language into their minds and in the process enriched the spirits in their bodies.

“The word of God” is an archaic way of saying “The will of God”.

The will of God is simply what God chooses to do.

So, His word is His will.
