The Catholic Pastor

I’m a Catholic Pastor.

Raised a Catholic, I haven’t always thought favorably about the church. Like others, I had my questions and criticisms, likes and dislikes, yet a deep profound love and loyalty.

I thought of being a priest many times in my life, even looking it up to see how old one can be. I’m too old.

I gave myself to servitude to God in 2017, as a Pastor. Not quite the same, but a distinction with its own respect and professional obligations.

Privately and publicly, it’s a vow to God that you will officially serve His needs and follow His guidance for His wishes only, such as that may be, no matter what.

Can one technically be a Catholic and likewise do your own thing as a Pastor?

I emphatically believe you can, but didn’t always think so. I thought I had given up one for the other.

I was swimming against the tide of Catholic authority and rules, potentially heretically. Especially in my case, because I’m free thinking, free spoken, not the sort of person who lives a pious life or adheres to those appearances.

If it’s confusing to hear, it was very confusing living it out.

My point is this, we should all be Pastors to some degree, not all professionally, but definitely privately.

From the beginning it’s been the hope that God’s people would spread His word, not on a pulpit or by getting into peoples faces, but by lovingly sharing.

What I learned is that God doesn’t care whatsoever about titles, mine or anyone else’s.

He cares about our faith and what we do.

What are our responsibilities?

Faith first.

It’s the foundation that all rests on.

Works second.

What we do in this life reverberates forever.

Connect to God, then act in His favor.

His favor will ultimately be your favor.

I’m a Catholic Pastor.

I serve God.

Peace and God’s blessings…
