Deceptions

3 Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, 4 who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God.

– 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4

Originally written around 51–52 AD, Paul composed this letter (epistle) with clear words, beware crafty deception.

There’s a reason the Catholic Church is the bedrock of Christendom. From the beginning days it adhered to the foundations and fundamentals of Jesus’s teachings.

For nearly 2,000 years it has held firm, admonishing stray philosophies and false teachings. Admittedly, it has failed to evolve as culture and humanity has, showing the weaknesses of its antiquated concepts and ritualistic practices that can confuse instead of elucidating. But ultimately the Catholic fight against evil is the good fight, God’s great fight to defeat the enemy.

For us today and for those tomorrow we must stand firm on the ‘rock’ Jesus said would hold the whole house up, i.e. His words. Labels are worthless. Tribal fighting is a waste of time. ‘The word of God’, that is everything. Know that and you know it all. That is your shield against deceptions. That is your assurance. That is ‘The Way’.
