Day Off From God

Sunday is considered the day of rest for most parts of the world. Started by Jewish traditions, more or less, it allows for weekly body and metal relief from labor, spiritual recharging, reflection devoted to family and God, and gathered worship at a designated place like a temple or church.

But what of the other six days?

Do we get a day off from God?

Daily prayer is a practice meant to connect us to God seven days a week; scheduled or spontaneous time aside to talk with God about the things we’re concerned about or to recite a prayer. But it needn’t be formal or a plea, it could simply be a chat.

Faith is about more than rock solid belief, it must be coupled with genuine connection. One of the ways to achieve this is by a consistent dialog with God.

It’s healthy.

Being silent is not being absent, but it can create distance that can foster negative thoughts and behaviors or disconnection that leaves the spirit unknowingly adrift.

Prayer as a ‘formal’ practice is a tad overrated. It becomes mechanical as if the act of going through the process is good enough. It is not.

It can never be overstressed that genuineness is the state of being that matters most. Mechanical practiced behavior is simply acting, like reading from a script.

“Speak to me…”

That is Gods ever present signal sent out to the world.

Listen for it daily and answer with your own voice about whatever you like; wherever you find yourself, home or work. Chat out loud or in your head.

It’s all received.

Never take a day off from God.

He won’t…
